3 Class Offerings

The Cloud Professional Certificate program is an online, non-credit class series designed for those seeking to understand cloud technology and prepare for a career managing and developing solutions using cloud technologies.

The program gives participants hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services cloud technologies and prepares them for AWS Cloud Certification exams. Students who complete the 3-class series will be awarded a professional certificate and 12 continuing education units (4 CEUs per class) from Cal Poly Extended Education.

The certificate program focuses on the fundamentals of building scalable cloud architecture. Students will gain hands-on experiences building real-world solutions using the ecosystem of cloud services. The final class in the series provides an overview of specialty topics that are emerging areas of cloud technology currently in high demand. While these classes use Amazon Web Services technologies, cloud computing fundamentals apply to all cloud providers.

Each 8-week class can be taken as a sequential series or independently if pre-requisites are met.

The professional certificate requires successful completion of all 3 classes:

  • DEV10 E888: Cloud Fundamentals
  • DEV10 E889: Architecting Cloud Solutions
  • DEV10 E890: Emerging Cloud
  • Technologies

Classes can be completed 100% online through weekly synchronous class meetings and online, asynchronous assignments. Each class lasts 8 weeks, and weekly synchronous class meetings are 2.5 hours, 2 days per week on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 4:00 PM – 6:30 PM (Pacific Standard Time).

This class will build on the fundamentals of cloud computing and dive deeper to understand more AWS core services and help you effectively architect and deploy secure and robust applications on AWS.

DEV10 E890: Emerging Cloud Technologies

This class will expose you to specialty topics that are emerging in cloud technology.

Learn by doing

This three-class certificate program will focus on cloud fundamentals, cloud architecture and specialty topics that are emerging areas of cloud technology currently in high demand.

This program will use a Cal Poly, “Learn by Doing” approach, giving students a hands-on experience on how to build cloud-based, scalable solutions using the AWS ecosystem. The classes can be taken as a sequential series or independently, if prerequisites are met.

Add to your skills

This program is intended to prepare students for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CCP) and Solutions Architect (SA) Associate-level certification exams.

In addition, it will include topics related to several AWS specialty certificates. This certificate is recommended for those seeking cloud fluency or a career change into cloud computing.

Become an expert

Students will experiment with various AWS cloud services in hands-on learning labs to create and build scalable cloud architectures. These architectures will adhere to current best practices embraced by cloud professionals while providing students with unparalleled experience and confidence that will assist them in advancing their cloud computing knowledge.

Gain a competitive advantage

AWS has been a cloud infrastructure leader for nine consecutive years, and is growing 10 times faster than its 14 other competitors. As cloud infrastructure continues to grow, there is a market shortage of cloud-competent employees. Establish credibility and develop confidence as you grow your cloud experience while using the AWS platform.
