Our curriculum is designed to quickly build your cloud competency with a practical approach to using AWS cloud services. We believe that the best way to learn about the cloud is to use the cloud to solve real world problems in new ways.

DEV10 E888: Cloud Fundamentals

Cloud Fundamentals introduces core concepts of cloud computing. This 8-week non-credit online class is intended to prepare individuals for the AWS Cloud Practitioner Exam, which validates AWS cloud knowledge and enhances professional credibility. This class introduces four domains: cloud concepts, security, technology, and billing and pricing.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, students will be able to:

  1. Define AWS cloud value proposition and the basic global infrastructure
  2. Describe basic AWS Cloud architectural principles
  3. Describe the AWS Cloud value proposition
  4. Describe key services on the AWS platform and their common use cases (for example, compute and analytics)
  5. Describe basic security and compliance aspects of the AWS platform and the shared security model
  6. Define the billing, account management, and pricing models
  7. Identify sources of documentation or technical assistance (for example, whitepapers or support tickets)
  8. Describe basic/core characteristics of deploying and operating in the AWS cloud

DEV10 E889: Architecting Cloud Solutions

This 8-week non-credit online class builds on the fundamentals of cloud computing and exposes students to a deeper level of AWS core services to effectively architect and deploy secure and robust applications on AWS. Using hands-on virtual labs that emphasize learn by doing, the instructors will provide real-world examples of how to build out scalable infrastructure and demonstrate how to automate the deployment process. Architecting Cloud Solutions will prepare students for the AWS Certified Solutions Architect exam.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion students will understand the following:

  1. Architect and deploy secure and robust applications using cloud technologies
  2. Design a solution using architectural design principles based on customer requirements
  3. Provide implementation guidance based on best practices to the organization throughout the life cycle of the project
  4. Evaluate an IT framework based on accepted best practices

General Required Knowledge
AWS Cloud practitioner certification or equivalent knowledge

DEV10 E890: Emerging Cloud Technologies (Dates TBD)

This 8-week non-credit online course will expose participants to specialty topics that are emerging in cloud technologies. An introductory overview is given for each subject, and in many cases, these topics have a corresponding specialty certification associated with them. Hands-on virtual labs will expose students to an actual AWS environment so they can explore these new technologies with examples from industry. This class will give an overview of emerging technology topics and an overview of Big Data and Alexa Skill Building Specialty exam content.

This class is intended for individuals looking for a career in technology in one of these emerging areas.

Topics Include:

Big Data – Learn how to ingest large data and what Amazon services can be used to organize and sort your large data sets.

Data Analytics – Learn about what modern data analytic tools exist and how you can perform analysis on large datasets to gain insight into your data.

Data Visualization – Gain experience with using data to tell stories visually in more effective and meaningful ways.

Alexa Skill Builder – Build your first Alexa skill! Learn how to use a voice interface to perform functions in the cloud.

Internet of Things (IoT) – Learn how to manage and interact with IoT devices in the cloud and get hands on experience with an IoT device that you can control from anywhere with an internet connection.
